City of Reno, Sparks, and unincorporated Washoe County Waste Management residential customers may dispose of one standard pickup truck (not to exceed three cubic yards) of trash four times a year at no cost anytime during the transfer stations’ normal operating schedule.

Bulky Item Pick Up/Drop Off Options:

  • Waste Management offers residential pick up services of bulky items at an extra cost per yard in certain residential areas and neighborhoods. To see if you are eligible for this service, search your address on this webpage. Pricing and options vary by area.

    Accepted materials vary by location, but common bulky, large or heavy items include: mattress & box springs, bed frames, Christmas trees, cabinets, sofa & furniture items, etc. Residents can call Waste Management at (775) 329-8822 for more information. If this service is not offered in your area, bulky items may be dropped off at the Sage Street Transfer Station and disposed of for a fee.

  • In an effort to assist residents with household clean ups and to curb illegal dumping, the Lockwood Landfill works with Reno, Sparks, Washoe County and Storey County to provide free dump weekends at the landfill to local residents. During these events, residents can bring household appliances such as, refrigerators, hot water heaters, stoves/dishwashers, washers/dryers, as well as bulky waste items like sofas, chairs, mattresses, box springs. Call the landfill at (775)342-0401 to get more information and the specific dates for this program.
